There is good on the left, right and centre of Politics, UKIP choose the best policies for the working man untainted by the Westminster Elite

Voting UKIP is voting for a change from the established parties, (Labour in our area), who have the muscle paid for by you to look after their interests at the expense of your interests.

If you have an unresolved local issue in the Evenwood Ward, please seek our solution by going to our Gripe Box by clicking here

We have had decades of Labour control in County Durham dating from when Labour represented the working man and were elected for Parliament from within the community.

Those days are long gone as now Labour decide who among the Westminster cultivated cohort should have their turn in Parliament before sending them out to safe seats in the North, Bishop Auckland being one of the safest.

The current Labour party have their allegiance not to the people but to Big Business with our local MP being part of the World Dominating Bilderberg Organisation. That may sound far fetched but just search for "Goodman, Helen" on last years list of participants after following this link   http://www.bilderbergmeetings.org/participants.html

Unsure what Bilderberg is ? Then do your own Google research or watch here a very informative online video from a major news channel, proving that

Labour represents  Private not Public Interests

Our NHS

It's no wonder therefore that Labour sold out our NHS wholesale while they were in power. There is no doubt that the old Bishop Auckland Hospital needed refurbishing / rebuilding and the £48M capital value of the new Bishop Auckland General Hospital many would say is value for money. However, Labour scandalously chose to help Big Business by financing it with Private Finance Initiative which will mean that the final bill after 30 years will be £366 Million, more than 7 times it's value. This happened across the country and has plunged the NHS into a crisis with manning levels across the board taking the brunt, so it is no wonder they have to squeeze every possible income opportunity from the General Public (who is already paying the PFI bills) by charging extortionate fees for basic needs like patients relaxing in front of a TV or relatives parking to visit loved ones in Hospital.

Compare that to a typical Mortgage based on current 3.7% APRC representative

On this basis a £48M property over 30 years would mean a total repayment of approximately £80M (NOT £366M) It is accepted that there are other factors like Building Maintenance factored in but the difference between the two figures (£286M) is staggering and we must bear in mind that Interests rates available to Government are always much lower than any APRC quoted.

These staggering amounts of profit lead to Big Business being able to cash in their chips as we saw with University Hospital of North Durham in 2014 as reported in Northern Echo at the time.

Prolonged Road Works

Everyone has seen Road Works often with traffic light control but with NO work going on within the coned off areas. This is a waste of everyones time, costs money in extra vehicle fuel and Business time as well as the general annoyance at being late to a destination which is compounded greatly where there is no evidence of activity. We will push for modification to Council Contracts procedure for Road Works with estimated time for completion being an essential component of contract alongside Price. Any overshoot of the Contract time to result in Penalty Payments to be added to cost of Job.

Local Issues

Waste Recycling

The current recycling system for surplus Household Waste is a pain in the A*** for many rural residents who for practical purposes chose to have a "Car style pick up" as their family vehicle. This choice commits them to organise a permit prior to dropping off any odds and ends at the recycle centre whereas the family next door can stick it in their roomy family estate no problem. We should also reconsider 4x4 with no rear windows and car sized vans which again may be the only household vehicle as requiring no permit for Household Waste items. There is still the "catch all" phrase "Any vehicle with commercial/trade waste" to prevent unwarranted disposal so why penalise rural people choosing other than a family saloon/estate as their vehicle. We will work hard to help local people because we realise that City generated rules do not always suit everyone.

Prison Reform

In response to the item on the Gripe List, I initialy considered dismissing the suggestions out of hand but cannot find any flaws in your argument. There is a knee jerk reaction that man is a social creature and needs social interaction but then you think on that the imprisoned people have forfeited their right to social interaction. I will discuss these ideas with my fellow Candidates and provide a more detailed response later.

TOFT HILL Bypass

It looks like Helen Goodman in conjunction with Toft Hill parish Council Vetoed the plans which were quite well developed in 2012, (see report here :- http://www.teesdalemercury.co.uk/Articles/Call-for-action-before-child-is-hurt-on-road )but times change along with vested interests and if elected I promise to push Durham County Council to review this vital concern which must be in the best interests of the nation and Toft Hill. If Toft Hill was a village in the South East of England this work would have been done decades ago and we must force Our Parliament through our local MP to review. An excellent Survey was done arround 2005 (see here http://www.etherleyparishcouncil.org/assets/parish-plan.pdf ) which highlighted that majority of residents were in favour of bypass which is a contradiction of the later conclusion so something isn't quite right and will be investigated further, hopefully with the mandate of votes from The DCC Elections
